Afsana’s View from Tunnel Bluffs

Afsana writes:-

Our plan for Lynn Peak changed to a more popular route, Tunnel Bluffs in Lions Bay, as yours truly was nervous about hiking with a small group (rumours of bear activity).

We met bright and early to ensure a parking spot for this busy trail on a lovely Saturday morning. Well, we had the pick of the overflow parking lot by being the first ones there! Definitely full by the time we returned 5 hours later.

We appreciated the cool & crisp weather as we ascended the 400- 500 meters in the first 2 km. Our lively conversation helped to ease any discomfort we may have been experiencing. We were pleased to get a reprieve in the flatter section of the forest. There were a few muddy sections, and we all traversed carefully over the two bridges.

The bluff section was doable, but care had to be taken due to some slipperiness. A wonderful “trail angel” helped a member. Our own trail angel, Lorena , helped another hiker with a nervous dog. There were a lot of well-behaved dogs on the trail!

The lunch spot was busy, but not overcrowded or particularly noisy. Our way down was uneventful and we met one group coming up with music playing.  I did my best to give them my stern teacher look!

Again, wonderful to hike with great company of like-minded hikers.
