A group of 14 of us met at the trailhead for Hollyburn Peak in Cypress Provincial Park on July 1st, to get some exercise while celebrating Canada Day and celebrate the nice summer weather that Mother Nature threw our way as a bonus. We started at the fairly civilized hour of 10 am to keep things in "holiday mode", and took our time on the way up the hill with many stops for water and snacks.
Many participants were wearing Canada flag T-shirts or wearing red and white clothing, and/or had Canadian flags poking out of their packs. We made a colourful procession going up the hill and a great colourful display at the top where we stopped for a leisurely lunch to enjoy the views, the weather, and the company (see photos). Many other hikers who'd also stopped at the top were so impressed by our flags that they asked to borrow them for celebration photos (and the obligatory Instagram photos).
We then had a leisurely walk down the hill to the parking lot and cars. A good time was had by all.
