This was a long, gentle walk along the Seymour River on a beautiful, almost Summer day.  Thirteen club members (including 3 very nice new members) began at our house on Treetop Lane.  The walk was mostly flat or gently rolling and was punctuated by stops to admire the scenery, take photos and eat salmon berries.  Glen chatted about the Seymour Salmonid Society’s and Streamkeepers’ efforts to protect and enhance the salmon populations in the river.  At Spur 4 we climbed to the mid valley viewpoint for lunch, where there are picnic tables, an outhouse and a gazebo shelter from the sun.  Afterwards, we walked down to the river and made a loop through the salmon rearing habitat before heading back on the trail.  We had another break at Elbow pool where Glen and I and half of Brian went for a swim.  The nice, wide path and mix of sun and shade made for pleasant walking and conversations.  The day was topped off by relaxing in our back yard for some hikers and then the wonderful BBQ and games evening at Perry’s house.
