We started the hike from the top of Grouse Mtn, opting to take the gondola up instead of hiking up from the parking lot.

Passing the resident grizzly bears, we hiked up past the turn-offs to Thunderbird Ridge, Dam Mtn and Little Goat Mtn. Once reaching Goat Mtn we took the route that skirted around the mountain instead of going up and over. After stopping for a quick water and snack break we headed to the ridge. The views of Crown Mtn and the Camel are spectacular from here. Carrying on, we tackled a few ropes and chains along the way. The weather was mixed sun and cloud but great for hiking. After a leisurely lunch at the end of the ridge to relax and enjoy the views in all directions, we returned the same way, but decided to ascend and descend Goat Mtn. to check out the views from there as well.
No shortage of tarns along the way by Sheila
It was a great hike with wonderful people. To celebrate the day we stopped at the Rusty Rail BBQ and Grill on Grouse Mtn after the hike and shared a pitcher of beer. Hmmm, ale or lager? The decision was unanimous. Ale it was.
