Fun Fungi by Maya

Maya writes:-

The hike to Rainbow Lake was meant to occur Saturday, but the rains pushed this hike out to Sunday, so only four of us started.

But it was a great decision.

We made great headway and arrived at Rainbow Lake at 12.30. We sat on the boardwalk and had lunch.

Because it was so early, we thought we'd venture further. So, we hiked around the lake and started climbing again. We got to the viewpoint to Hanging Lake and met a ranger. Had a little talk with her and thought it would be fun to hike down to Hanging Lake.

So, we did. Checked out the camping spots, the bear cache, and the lake.

Thankfully, the weather cooperated. It was cool. And the berries were to die for. We ate handfuls of huckleberries and blueberries. It slowed us a little bit, but they were so delicious it couldn't be helped.

Unfortunately, the wildflowers were past their best, but the berries made up for it.

We did 24km, 998m EG, and spent 6 hours moving, but over 7 hours on the mountain.

It was topped off with a nice cold drink and great food at the Howe Sound Brewery in Squamish.
