View from Metal Dome by Iain

A group of eleven started out on the trail to Metal Dome around 9am. Having three offroad vehicles ensured we made it up to the upper parking area, lessening our hike by 6km RT and 500m EG. Thank you drivers! We hiked at a leisurely pace up to the top, with the sun shining and the temperatures on the coolish side, but perfect for hiking. Once we were out of the meadows and forest the views are spectacular with 360 degree views from Metal Dome. After an hour relaxing and having lunch at the top and enjoying the beautiful fall sunshine, we headed back down, with a stop to fill water and chill out on a few large rocks. Animals seen: coyote, chipmunks and ptarmigan. All in all it was a perfect hiking day!
