Most of the Gang under a Tree by Dolores

Dolores writes:-

Twelve more or less weatherproof hikers set out on a damp Saturday morning, led by Glen and Dolores Parker. The dampness quickly turned into rain and the hike proved to be perfectly timed to take place in the wettest part of the day. Undeterred, we set off from Riverside drive, up the Baden Powell to Hyannis and the Greenland trail. From there, we descended the Bottletop trail to join the Fishermans trail as far as the Circuit 8 connector. After that short, but steep, climb we walked Circuit 8 to the big hollow tree.

The rain, the mist and the forest all felt like something out of “Lord of the Rings”. At Rice Lake we had a very welcome lunch break under a shelter by the dock. Descending the Twin Bridges trail took us back to Fishermans and out to Riverside again.

16 kms, 450 meters elevation, lots of smiles, good spirits and cheerful conversation.
