Crooked Falls

On May 4th seven of us headed out to Squamish to do the Crooked Falls Trail. The hike was originally planned for the day before, but a forecast of likely showers on our planned day vs sun the next day led to a change of date. As it turned it was a good choice as we had perfect hiking weather.
Leaving the trailhead at 1030 we were expecting a distance of about 7.5 km, 450 m of elevation gain and about 3.5 hours on the trail. In the end that is pretty much exactly what we got. Beyond the logistics though we found the trail to be very agreeable - not too much up, a surprising number of old growth trees and overall a lovely trail. The falls themselves were quite spectacular with a massive amount of water cascading over them. Those who had hiked this trail before reported that the water volume was at least double what they had seen before.
Returning to Vancouver we took a detour to the Howe Sound Inn and Brewery, for some well deserved food and beverages, though there were some questions raised about Dave's beer choice!
A very good day indeed.
