Remembrance Day Hike
The Remembering Spot by Maya
Maya writes:-
Five of us ventured out on the most beautiful old growth trail near Deep Cove to remember, lest we forget!
We started out at 10.00 am on the trail called "Rain Dancer / Cove Runner." The alarm was set to warn us before 11.00 am came around. We stepped off the path and stopped by a moss covered fallen tree, see attached photo, to contemplate our deceased loved ones. We commemorated our 2 minutes of silence. We heard cannon of the start of Cates Park Remembrance Day 2-minute Silence, but not the bugle to signify the end of the silence. Then we continued onwards and upwards towards Quarry Rock.
We had to turn several groups around as we neared Quarry Rock, and once we got there was very busy. We lucked out with our lunch spot as two folk moved away from the cliff edge as we arrived. We all sat there enjoying our lunch overlooking Indian Arm inlet, with the sun on our faces, and water shimmering towards us.
It was a perfect way to remember.
